After the excesses of the last week a walk on a blustery beach is the perfect holiday hangover cure. The Women’s Room can recommend the beaches of The Scilly Isles, where the weather has been windy but warm and extraordinarily sunny this week. And there’s hardly anyone here so you can march along the sand, picking up limpet shells and bits of drift wood as you plan your adventures for 2009 in blissful solitude.
We’re staying at The Flying Boat Club on Tresco, which is a bit like an Enid Blyton holiday setting but with WiFi and great food. The houses are all perched close to the sea and there’s not much else to do but take long walks, but if beaches are your thing, then this place is simply heaven.
