Wandering the streets of Manhattan, one is overwhelmed with the sounds and the smells of the city. In the last couple of years the smells have been getting more and more enticing as street food ups its game and food trucks offer high quality gourmet food.
Everything form Greek, Indian, Tacos and burgers are on offer as well as our favourite, artisan ice cream from Van Leeuwen. The four tasteful pale yellow vans pitch up at locations around Manhattan and offer homemade ice cream, pastries and coffee. The best way to locate the vans is to follow them on twitter.
As well as food vans, enterprising young folk also set up ad hoc food stands on the streets selling home made lemonade and cupcakes. We were even offered free cups of water in Central park, from some kids on day camp.
It's only a matter of time before we see this trend in London – and we don't mean cans of Stella at the carnival!
