There really is nothing nicer than a cup cake and a cup of tea, and these mini cakes from Violet, one of our favourite stalls at Broadway market, are amazing.
Food writer and stylist Claire Ptak, makes American style cupcakes with gorgeous seasonal buttercream icings, made with fresh fruit purees, melted Valrhona dark chocolate, freshly brewed espresso, home-made flower cordials and dark caramel made with sea salt.
Originally from California, Ptak worked as a pastry chef for Alice Waters at Chez Panisse in Berkley, before moving to London with her husband, where she started Violet in 2005.
Violet is also now a cafe and shop in Wilton Way in Hackney, and worth a visit if you’re in the area.
