Style Icon: Margaret Howell

05
We came across a feature in the NY Times on Margaret Howell and were reminded of how much we admire both her personal and interior style.

She lives mostly in South East London and has a second home by the sea in Suffolk. Her 1960’s coastal home is filled with mid century classics and flea market finds and looks like the perfect combination of style, function and comfort.

Her personal style is uncompromisingly simple and she lives her labels aesthetic in every sense of the word.

If only we could afford more of her clothes, then we could emulate that stylish simplicity!

I totally agree, I love the whole understated-ness of Margaret Howell, I aspire to having that quiet, simple style but my life seems to insist on being chaotic and cluttered.

It's almost (but not quite) enough to linger in one of her stores – but then I must admit I head to Cos or Uniglo as I cannot get my head around £200 for a white cotton shirt. As soon as I can – I'll be buying it – and the house in Suffolk too!

I know what you mean Cassandra, I go into the shop sometimes just to make me feel calm and always leave without buying anything. Her sample sales are good though. We'll post the date of the next one.

I love hanging round her shop too. Its funny how looking that simple takes so much effort and money though! You’d think it would be the other way around.
