How do you feel about growing older and the colour of your hair?
American Photographer Vicki Topaz explores society’s views of and aging and feminism through her photographic study of one of the obvious signs of growing older – grey hair.
She asked her subjects – When did you first realize or acknowledge that you were aging? Was there a particular experience, a certain point in time, or was it perhaps a gradual transition? The resulting photographs and comments, look at the process of becoming older, their reactions to nature’s changes, and their ambitions for the future in revealing and often surprising ways.
