In A Summer Season by Elizabeth Taylor

We are hugely indebted to Debora Robertson (@lickedspoon) for this suggestion, we are trying to get Debora to write a blog post with her best books suggestions since she is an erudite wizz. I’d never heard of this author before, but I’ve now read this and followed it up with The Soul Of Kindness, also great and will work my way through her entire list of novels, I’ve enjoyed them so much.

Yes! Another fan joins the club!! It is Elizabeth Taylor’s centenary year and to celebrate a group of us are reading a Taylor every month in order of publication and hosting discussions on our blogs – you can find a list of everyone involved here:

There is a small but very passionate band of Elizabeth Taylor fans who are determined to make her name more well known as her writing is truly exceptional and criminally underappreciated. I’m so glad you’ve discovered her and now want to read everything – I think my favourite so far has been Mrs Palfrey at the Claremont, though it’s not exactly what you would call an uplifting read!

Thanks Rachel, I’m in the mood for a bit of gloom currently so will make Mrs Palfrey my next read! A
