There could only be one Weekend Woman this week, the amazing Jo Pavey, who has won a gold medal in the 10,000 metres at the European Championships this week. Every report of this tremendous win -her first gold in 17 years- are littered with references to the fact that she is 40 years old. it’s as if she has walked on water, so surprised are commentators that she can even put one foot in front of the other at such an age.
All interviews with Jo also show how balanced she seems, something she puts down to being a mum and keeping busy with her kids, in a profile in the Guardian today she claims being so busy with her children helps her endurance.
