If you have Amazon Prime (it used to be Love Film and I had no idea I had it till I logged on!!) you simply must check out Transparent, a new show specially created for Amazon. It’s interesting that these online only shows (see also Orange is the New Black and House of Cards on Netflix) seem to be making the most interesting programmes at the moment and word of mouth recommendation is becoming more powerful than mainstream tv channels.
Transparent is the story of an LA family who discover that their dad Mort is transgender – hence the title, Trans-parent. It is a gentle, funny and heart warming tale of of complicated relationships and confused sexuality and offers some insight into what it means to be trans gender.
Ground breaking and binge friendly – there are 10 episodes, which I managed to watch in three days – it’s worth signing up to Amazon Prime just to see it (this is not a sponsored post) – and Gabby Hoffman is my new serious girl crush.
In case you didn’t know, Gabby Hoffman is the daughter of Viva. Had something of a girl crush on her myself back in the 60s.
