Alternative Christmas Pudding

The Boy Who Bakes

If you’ve missed stir up Sunday and like me, are not overly fond of Christmas pudding anyway (all that small fruit makes me gag), you might want to think about trying out the rather delicious sticky toffee alternative below.

I was invited to to a baking master class with Ed Kimber – the very first winner of the Great British Bake Off – where we made the individual puddings, complete with praline topping. Not only are they incredibly easy – no precise measuring, which is what I hate about baking – they are also an impressive alternative to a Christmas pudding. There’s no need to bake them ahead and feed them with alcohol, they are best made on the day – or if you can’t face that at Christmas, made in advance and frozen.

As well as writing for several magazines and newspapers including BBC Good Food, Delicious and Waitrose Kitchen and making regular tv appearances, Ed also has his own blog, which is packed with delicious recipes.
