Tadine, from Les Belles Matieres Collection by Cire Trudon

Of all the candles I have inhaled over the last twelve months – and believe me, there’s been a LOT of inhaling – I’m always looking for someone to out-do my very favourite candle maker of all time, Cire Trudon.

The exquisite scents that are wrapped and trapped into the waxy depths of the Cire Trudon candles are head and shoulders above most others. Hardly anyone comes close to topping not just the intoxicating perfumes, but also the elegant packaging and containers. Yes, they are pricey, which is why I’m always hoping someone might come up with something as good at a lower price point. But that’s the thing, the candles are made from top-end, expensive ingredients, with fragrance-quality oils used to create those divine scents. When I win the lottery, I’m only ever burning Cire Trudon candles.

The new Les Belles Metieres collection has been created by Emilie Bouge, the nose from ‘naturals’ fragrance supplier Robertet and puts those gorgeous quality ingredients centre stage. There’s Madurai, celebrating jasmine, Reggio, a smooth citrus and (my favourite) Tadine, sandalwood. Did you know it was an Englishman -Edward Foxhall -who brought Sandalwood to Europe in the mid 1800s and made it super-popular as a scent? All available here to treat yourself with.

Also, a little insider secret, Cire Trudon are launching a fragrance range this summer, to say I’m excited about this would be a huge understatement. I’ll keep you posted.

Check out the excellent Eteignoir candle snuffers too, for the smartest way to de-flame. no more smoky extinguishing! And possibly the perfect gift for anyone who loves their scented candles.
