L’Atelier: Eat and shop

Every time I walk through Dalston another new cafe or shop has opened and it is increasingly turning into an interesting place to hang out during the day as well as party central (if you are 20 something) at night. I love the way the creative new business’s are popping up between the snooker halls and Turkish men’s clubs and really hope the area manages to maintain its roots during this period of change.

Lots of my local friends are self employed and we like to give ourselves a little treat on a Friday afternoon and have lunch or tea somewhere interesting. We are never short of somewhere new to go and on last weeks “Freelance Friday” outing we tried out L’Atelier.

Set in the heart of the ‘Dalston Strip” this new cafe/shop is ever changing, as everything is for sale. Drinking coffee among an eclectic mix of carefully curated but mismatched pieces, makes for a lovely leisurely way to browse the products.

Open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea, we were a little (make that a lot) disappointed on the day we visited as there was only apple tart on offer as a cake option. Compared to the amazing homemade cake selection at The Russet (my new favourite cafe) this just wasn’t on, but it is definitely worth a browse for the furniture.
