Cabbages & Roses is one of our favourite small brands, founder Christine Strutt’s clothes carve their own charming, trend-free route that has garnered her a devoted following of customers. We’re thrilled that she’s got a Uniqlo range and her lovely prints are getting more exposure. Her main range isn’t cheap so it’s good to see a more affordable collection. I’m not wild about the whole Uniqlo offer -the printed shorts aren’t my thing and I’m not sure the printed T shirt quality is as good as it could be, but the printed linen tunics are lovely.
My favourite prints are the palest bright blue and pale raspberry floral, which looks like a pattern you might find on the china in Christine’s kitchen cupboards. The sailing boat print is also pretty, as is the blue mon-print floral. The linen is good quality, crisp and cool and the shape is generous and a good length. A great top to wear for the summer, wear it over neat capri pants or white cotton shorts.
