Edith Head
We seem to be having a bit of a Hollywood glamour moment here at TWR. We so feel a trend coming on!!

Amanda is having a Hitchcock moment and I am, as ever, in Edna Mode mode, if you get my drift. Those of you who haven't seen the brilliant Pixar film, The Incredibles, will have absolutely no idea what we are talking about, but those who have, will immediately spot the resemblance between the eccentric fashion designer Edna from the film and the Hollywood costume designer Edith Head.

A new book released in October last year, looks at the work of Edith who was one of the most influential and talented costume designers in Hollywood. It brings together some amazing never seen before sketches, behind the scenes images and examples of her work. The favourite designer of some of the Hollywood greats, including Ginger Rogers, Bette Davies, Grace Kelly, Audrey Hepburn and Elizabeth Taylor, this book is a must have for film buffs, fashion designers and lovers of glamour.

Her own personal style was unchanging and instantly recognisable. Her trademark round dark glasses were said to have grey lenses in order for her to see how clothes would look in black and white! Her blunt fringe and neat chignon was inspired by actress Anna Mary Wong, and Edith was to wear her hair like this for most of her life. Now there's an idea!
