So far, it’s been the type of summer that would benefit from a nice vest. Temperatures have hardly risen to blistering and on a number of evenings this year when I’ve been wearing a summer shirt, I’ve really wished for a light jersey vest to wear underneath to keep me from shivering. I’m also much more comfortable with a more sheer shirt wearing a camisole or vest underneath, it just looks more elegant to me.
I’ve found a fabulous one at Hanro. Well two actually, depending on your needs. Firstly my favourite, a classic, wide strapped tank vest, which is seamless and long, so it tucks in nicely. It feels beautifully soft against your skin and is a great fit. Not cheap at £48 but since a vest can really last a lifetime -i’ve got a vest in my cupboard that I’ve had for longer than I’ve known middleagedad -it’s probably worth the investment.
Then there’s the spaghetti strap, satin trimmed camisole in 100% cotton at £29, if you prefer natural fibres, which has a v neck and must be the classiest vest on the market. It’s a touch shorter, but that might suit. For winter Hanro does a wool silk mix that feels like I’m going to develop something of a vest habit….
Love the bottom one, Amanda. Also recommend James Perse.(in the sales though, obvs)
LOVE James Perse! Funnily enough I was in one yesterday, in Notting Hill, very lovely shirts, but as you say, best at sale price. A
