We have been a little slow in acknowledging the success of Made In Heaven jeans, I can almost see some of you rolling your eyes at our tardiness. But truth is I hadn’t really seen it up close anywhere and was unaware that the brand did such excellent ready-to-wear clothes too, until I recently saw a gorgeous navy silk over-sized shirt on Kate Evans, owner of Spitalfields boutique Precious, who told me she’d lived in it all summer.
For those who don’t know, Made in Heaven is a jeans brand set up in 2006 by Chloe Lonsdale, whose parents founded Jean Machine back in the very early 70s. Chloe clearly has jeans in her genes (sorry, couldn’t resist) and has made a success out of curating a denim range imbibed with very understated, casual Good Taste. No fussy details and clothes that are pretty season-less, this is a ‘buy now, wear now’ collection…budget allowing.
If you are a regular reader you know we are enthusiastic about The Boyfriend jean shape (below left) -so much easier to wear than a skinny and a million times chic-er in our opinion -and MiH’s Phoebe one is lovely (£210), the denim is soft and the wash a rich indigo. I’m also reliably informed that should you be a boot cut kinda girl, the brand’s Marrakesh style is seen, looking amazing, on some very famous bottoms indeed. Some of you might like to know that as I write this, ASOS has the more distressed Halsey boyfriend shape on sale currently at £60.50.
But it is the indigo jersey Breton tops that I think are very buy-able, generous in length, beautiful quality and immensely wearable, they look good to me. The top image is the AW13 version and has been so popular that it has actually sold out in the MiH webstore, but available from Matches here (£130). Coming for next spring is an even nicer one (below big image) in a chambray stripe. Start saving now.
I loved the colour mix of the toffee and chocolate hand knit sweaters, above, I wonder if moths would eat such big stitches?
The summer Breton looks good, don’t you think?
When TWR gets its official dream office, it will definitely have a staff canteen that looks a bit like the MiH one at its Shepherd’s Bush HQ below, we’re sooo having the pampas grass display too….
We may even go in for an indigo blue floor and ombre walls like the show room has….do you see what they’ve done with the ombre look at the end wall? it’s actually stacked canvases, so easy to change…incase you liked to vary your colour schemes (that’s us).
MiH jeans are available from the website and are for sale widely. The website has a good Fit Room to help you figure out your size altho I notice waist sizes only go up to a 32″…why no bigger I can’t imagine. But if you’re a relatively slim, understated casual-chic kind of dresser then this is def one for you.
