Le Snob: Perfume, by Dariush Alavi

This is an elegant little book and very useful too for anyone interested in perfume. I’ve read a lot around the subject since starting the blog (nearly four years ago btw! It’s our birthday soon) but it’s hard to find everything you need to know in one compact reference space.

This comes close, it’s slim and almost pocket size, contains concise details on history, perfume construction, how to understand the language perfumers speak, hot perfumers worth watching, current trends and an edited assessment of some of the best from each perfume group. There are snippets from industry experts slotted in along the way to add gravitas and the narritive is both witty and engaging. I know enough about both perfume and the industry now to say that this is an excellent first reference book for the serious perfume fan. I am keeping it close to hand.

Dariush also writes for Basenotes, and his own blog is called Persolaise if you want to check out his style before buying, which you can do here for £8.99.

  • Hey there! Nintendo wii which is entirely off matter. Did you know how to make your website cellular warm and friendly? My own weblog looks odd any time browsing coming from my personal apple iphone4. I’m looking for a design or perhaps extension that may be able to take care of this concern. In case you have any kind of suggestions, please share. Cheers!
