In complete contrast to yesterday’s Anna Wintour piece (is it us or is Ms Wintour now smiling a lot more? Nothing to do with surgery, we’re sure), today we’re admiring the more down to earth –literally- Carol Klein. Chelsea Flower show has had us hooked this week and mostly due to Carol’s sensible and informative narrative. But we’ve also loved her clothes, at 63 she is showing us that her knowledge of balancing colours in floral displays is working well with her clothes choice. We loved her crimson trouser suit on Monday and her pale pink fine knit sweater and lavender blue scarf combo. And her hair…scruffy salt & pepper chic.
We can’t understand why hugely experienced Carol, was overlooked to present the BBC’s Gardener’s World on Friday nights, they chose dull-as-ditchwater Toby Buckland 38, instead. We’re sure he’s very nice but he sends us to sleep and he’s hardly Monty Don in terms of middleagecrush materiel. Surely that wouldn’t be the BBC being ageist and sexist, would it?
