It’s all about art here in London this week, as the Frieze Art Fair is on until Sunday. Look out for Amanda’s pics of the stylish clientele later in the week.
Our favourite brand in the world (did we tell you how much we love them?) COS, are continually inspired by the art world when creating their pioneering shapes and are keen to support young artists who challenge the boundaries of contemporary art. In partnership with Frame at Frieze, COS have collaborated with artist Simon Elephant and made a film, which reflects their forward thinking approach to design.
Another of our favourite brands, Acne have teamed up with London-based artist Daniel Silver to launch a colourful, travel inspired capsule collection. Featuring tribal art works, which reflect Silvers love of Africa and multi cultural background, Acne’s Jonny Johansson said: “The collaboration stemmed from a shoot we did in Daniel’s studio in London, I loved his usage of texture and color – Daniel has a great sensibility for art. So for this capsule collection we used a lot of Daniel’s colors and art works. Fabrics are slightly raw and tribal in style, Daniel has a strong relationship with Africa and so we embraced this in the collection, there is painted leather, a lot of print and a lot of naive texture.”
The collection is available in Acne’s Dover Street store.
I suggest that anyone who makes it to Dover Street also pops into Dover Street Market, where Rei Kawakubo has built an extension to the cash-point hut that extends right into the window, in celebration of Frieze week. It’s funky. A
