There really is nothing nicer at this time of year, than making a real fire, switching on the Christmas tree lights and lighting a scented candle. Within minutes the house is filled with festive scent and Christmas cheer. It’s worth spending a little bit more to get a really authentic smell, as there are lots of nasty cheap versions available, that can smell like a cross between those cardboard Christmas trees that mini cab drivers love and Glade air fresheners!
One of our long time favourites is Pine and Eucalyptus from Jo Malone London. The brand have also introduced a limited edition Roasted Chestnut candle this season, which can be used on its own, or combined with Pine and Eucalyptus. Or you could try the Travel Candle Collection, which includes both fragrances, as well as the lovely, heady Pomegranate Noir. At £60 it’s not cheap, but might be one to put on your Christmas list.
The White Company also has a well priced range of lovely Christmassy scents. We particularly like the Winter Signature Candle.
We also love the Aromatherapy Comfort Candle, which combines damask rose and ginger. It isn’t particularly Christmassy, but is deeply relaxing, with a real feel good factor and might be just the thing to relieve the stress of cooking Christmas dinner!!
