Christmas at the Design Museum

As you would expect the Design Museum are very good at decorating their Christmas tree and this year they have enlisted the help of fashion designer Mary Katranzou.

The 3m height tree incorporates patterns from her Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, was inspired by “formal gardens and artful box patterns,” and takes the form of a 2D design projected on the museums outer wall – which is one way to avoid pine needles on the floor!

If you are in London over the festive period, it’s worth a trip to the Design Museum to see Unexpected Pleasures: the Art and Design of Contemporary Jewellery, Digital Crystal: Swarovski at the Design Musuem and Designers in residence.

There is also late night shopping tonight from 6.30 -10 pm tonight, which features a programme of activities, including gift wrapping workshops, making and starring in your own e cards and a talk by Jane Harris and Sarah E Braddock Clarke, authors of the new book Digital Visions for Fashion and Textiles. They also have a great shop, for presents for any designers and creatives in your life.

If you fancy making a night of it, there are lots of restaurants near the museum and there really is nothing like a walk along the South Bank on a clear winters evening before Christmas .
