Whether you agree with Mothers Day or not (I veer between thinking it’s a commercial nonsense, to feeling hurt if no-one makes a fuss – contrary me?!) it’s tricky to think of original presents for 80 year old mums who have everything! But who doesn’t like flowers, real or in books.
Two new books which take a modern, yet attainable approach to growing and displaying flowers would make great Mothers Day presents.
The Cut Flower Patch written by Louise Curley and published by Frances Lincoln looks at what makes great cut flowers and gives advice advice on what to grow and when to sow, as well as tips on weeding, deadheading, pests and feeding. Growing your own means your flowers will be seasonal, free of chemicals, kinder on the environment and cheaper than buying from shops and this is a great book to help you get the most from your flower patch.
You can buy The Cut Flower Patch at the discounted price of £16.00 including p&p* (RRP: £16.00), telephone 01903 828503, or email [email protected] and quote the offer code APG101.
Decorate With Flowers is a collaboration between interiors author and stylist Holly Becker of the design blog, decor8, and Leslie Shewring, product designer, photographer and stylist. This lovely book offers advice on selecting, combining and arranging flowers to best complement your interior style and contains lots of simple but effective ideas separated into eight sections; Natural, Pastels & Neons, Market, Happy Brights, Coastal, Neutral Pop, Girly Glam and Black & White.
If actual flowers aren’t your (or your mums) thing, check out the rather fabulous Neom Moroccan Bush Rose bath and shower oil. I’m not usually a fan of Rose scented oils, but this one is lush. It’s amazing for relieving stress as the blend of Moroccan blush rose combined with black pepper & lime mean it’s a gentle, healing fragrance.
It’s £32 and available here.
