Top ten stylish grown up women to follow on Instagram

I’m a bit over Twitter. Once it was where you’d go to find chatty, funny people avoiding deadlines and job lists by kicking the breeze with daft conversations about the Eurovision Song Contest. Now it’s stuffed with brands selling you things. You have to dig deep to find someone to make you laugh and it’s all got rather hard work. Yes I could go through and delete our ‘following’ list a bit, but I can’t really be bothered.

I tend to spend my time on Instagram now, where the pictures are fabulous and the conversations less corporate. I’m always being asked who to following on Instagram, as it can be a bit daunting when you first join, so here’s a list of our top ten favourite stylish grown up women to get behind. Later i’ll do a list of foodies, interiors people and anything else we think you should know.

Our Top Ten

The Women’s Room thewomensroomblog Us obvs! Because life is more than just fashion, expect art, clothes, colour, craft, perfume cakes, flowers and dogs. Lots of dogs.

Advanced Style advancedstyle To inspiring you to make just that little bit more effort with your daily dressing, Ari Seth Cohen shoots older New York women looking colourful, coordinated and awesomely stylish..

Uberta Zambeletti ubertazambaletti We wrote about Uberta’s chic Milan boutique Wait & See here, her instagram feed is colourful, witty, stylish and full of outfit inspiration, not that I’m ever going to look as good as she does. We are patiently waiting for her to open a London shop.

Linda Rodin lindaandwinks  One of our favourite style icons, her Instagram feed is full of images of herself and her daily companion, sweet Winky the dog. BTW for the perfume fans out there, did you know Linda’s first fragrance is out? For sale at Barneys New York.

Suzy Menkes suzymenkesvogue Grand dame of fashion writing and now Vogue’s roving ambassador, Suzy’s feed gets you into top top level, behind the scenes interviews and events.

Paula Reed properpaulareed One time Grazia fashion Ed, now creative director of My Theresa, Paula is who I’d most like to dress like, if I was six foot something and thin as a pencil. She gets us up close to next season’s fashion and highlights ‘best looks’.

Navaz Batliwalla disneyrollergirl Influential style blogger and stylist with impeccable lux-tomboy-taste.

Caroline Issa. caroissa The world’s best dressed, coolest looking, grown up woman. Always smiling.

Catherine Baba catherinebaba Every Insta feed needs a touch of fashion-eccentric, mad-as-a-box-of-frogs-ness. Catherine provided ours, with bucket loads of glamour.

Beatrix Ost beatrixost Old school glamour with the tiniest touch of elegant eccentric.

Maggie Alderson maggiealderson There’s fashion here, but also everything else that makes for good visual inspiration, including many pictures of Hastings and lots of humour and wit.

Alyson Walsh thatsnotmyage Alyson has a new book out Style Forever: How to Look Fabulous Every Age and has a good eye for a well composed photo, be it a tuxedo jacket or a good looking doorway.

Mary Portas maryportasofficial and Melanie Rickey fashedatlarge Slightly cheating as these two are married so I’ve counted them as one. Mary’s feed is usally full of pictures of Mary, but she never looks anything less than uber-glam, and Melanie is a well connected fashion girl with a sharp eye .

Ahem, yes, that is, in fact, more than ten.

Who do you follow? Anyone important we’ve missed off?

Totally agree, the trouble is there’s only so much time you want to expend on social media and for me Instagram is hitting the spot now.I have a different selection as my focus is cool kidswear but all of the above are brilliant, also recommend @unskilledworker for fab daily portraits and @jillkellett for inspirational pics

Thank you ladies for your seal of approval! LOVE Caroline Issa for my daily dose of glam and Suzy Menkes makes me laugh with some of her fashion pap pics (is it rude to say they remind me of Martha Stewart’s food tweets?)… XX

  • Love these instagrammers. Great inspiration!

  • Vicki says:

Great recommendations, I’m now following them all. Now where’s my camera…?

  • garry hilton says:

They can make content relatable and simple. Not every Reel needs to be a production. Lower-quality videos can perform as well as, if not better than, highly-produced Reels.
