So it’s officially December and time to start thinking about buying presents. Is it just me or does Christmas seem to have been going on for months already?
In order to help you find the prefect present, or to point your loved ones in the right direction to buy you the perfect present, we have asked some of our friends and family to create their very own Christmas gift guides, starting with Julia Little, regular Womens Room contributor and one half of our favourite footwear brand, Grenson.
Julia gave me possibly the most ingenious and strangely fascinating invention recently- the ice ball maker. It will turn your festive gin and tonic into an occasion – perfect for when the MIL comes to stay – and it only costs £9.99.
For the travel lovers in your life, a subscription to Suitcase magazine would be a great idea. The website and magazine take a fresh look at the role of the travel magazine, disregarding the impossibly luxurious and underwhelming tourist clichés and embracing the eclectic and adventurous.
Obviously Julia recommends a pair of Grensons (Amanda and I may or may not have the entire women’s range between us) and Juno – the modern take on a loafer – is the perfect style meets comfort combination.
We are huge fans of the Margate brand Haeckels – as is Julia and she loves their room diffuser and seaweed geranium hand balm.
An alphabet wash bag would work for almost anyone and there are a whole host of other personalised items on Alphabet Bags.
Love, Style, Life by Garance Dorè would be perfect for anyone interested in fashion.
Homely suggestions from Julia include a luxurious sheepskin rug, a pair of Mahabis slippers, which work for both men and women, a really handy Tweezerman Mirror (add a favourite mascara), a Paisley print hot water bottle cover from Toast, and a subscription to the beautifully aspirational lifestyle magazine Kinfolk.
And last but not least, don’t forget your precious pooch when you go away to visit family (although mine makes himself at home on most peoples sofa!) with this fold away travel bed.
