Christmas Gift Guide for Middle-aged mums

Today its my turn to bring you my pick of the most interesting Christmas gifts for middle-aged mums – or indeed any of the women in your life.  You may also want to send a link to any clueless men that need a nudge in the right direction.

We have been eating lots more vegetarian food in our house lately and  At Home in the Wholefood Kitchen is a great (easy) cookbook for delicious, seasonal recipes.

The Dogist is one of my favourite Instagram feeds and I’m hoping to find their new book in my stocking. It tells the stories of the dogs on the streets of New York, it’s like Humans of New York but with dogs!

Everyone likes a scented candle and the Menthe and Thè one from Kerzon is the perfect fresh alternative to all of those cinnamon/orange/pine ones that make you gag by the end of December.

All that sitting around over Christmas requires effort and the appropriate clothing. Check out J Crew for the perfect Athleisure grey marl joggers and Nike for the most comfortable and black and white polka dot trainers – honestly they are like wearing slippers.

You will also need a pair of statement earrings (remember they are the new statement necklace) for all those parties you’ve been invited to – add a black dress and you are good to go. These are also from J Crew.

Elemental Herbology is my favourite new brand and everyone will love their lush range of 5 bath/shower oils, which reference all the elements—wood, fire, earth, metal and water. Another natural brand Balance Me do really nice, reasonably priced stocking fillers which are great for the whole family.

If you haven’t bought your Christmas cards yet, check out Amanda’s post from yesterday, but you might also like our favourite fashion illustrator Miss Magpie Spy’s range of fashion inspired cards.

And last but not least – an absolute must have for any stylish older woman –  is this great range of Old is the New Black T-Shirts created by designer Fanny Kurst, in collaboration with Ari Seth Cohen of Advanced Style.

Thanks for featuring our cards! And I love the T-shirt, we have a list of things like “Old is the new black” on the wall as we keep brainstorming new cards ideas after our Senior Moments is so popular! I’d forgotten about the Balance Me range, I really love their stuff….must get some for a special someones stocking. Thanks again for adding us to your great selection xx
