So the sun is shining at last and the shops are starting to fill up with Autumn clothes (don’t get me started) but as most people are only just starting to think about going on their summer holidays – here are a few things to look out for when trawling the markets of whatever gorgeous European destination you are visiting this year.
One of my favourite things to do on holiday is to mooch about in the shops when the sun gets too hot (make that most of the time) and look for local products that would translate into fashion looks when I get home. I realise this could be viewed as slightly sad – but I much prefer buying a lovely local basket than paying a ridiculous amount on Net A Porter for almost exactly the same thing.
This season my point is proven with the current trend for embellished ethnic bags and sandals – as seen on the catwalk from Dolce and Gabbana and from the current ‘it” artisan brand Muzungu Sisters. Gorgeous as they are, there is absolutely no way I would spend over £1000 on a basket I could buy in a market in Scilly!
So if you are out and about in Europe this summer keep an eye our for brightly coloured embellished accessories – or if like me you are having staycation, you could always nip along to your local craft shop!
Love the bright colours. Worry that something that looks fab in situ in sunny wherever might look a little out of sync back in the UK on a wet Wednesday afternoon.
Fantastic article on fashion and beauty. Great tips for dressing this summer to help you strike the perfect balance between comfort and fashion while you tour European cities. All are really marvellous. I am very impressed to see this Sicilian summer dress. Girl is really gorgeous with fabulous outfits and Looking Cool in the Heat. Thanks for nice sharing this.
