Food writer and stylist Claire Ptak, makes American style cupcakes with gorgeous seasonal buttercream icings, made with fresh fruit purees, melted Valrhona dark chocolate, freshly brewed espresso, home-made flower cordials and dark caramel made with sea salt.
Originally from California, Ptak worked as a pastry chef for Alice Waters at Chez Panisse in Berkley, before moving to London with her husband, where she started Violet in 2005.
