Chanel Cruise: it’s all about lemon and lilac

As we mentioned yesterday, Karl Lagerfeld launched his cruise collection and new film at the Hôtel du Cap in Antibes last night. There is also a pop up Chanel shop along the coast in Cannes, cleverly placed opposite the film festival red carpet, which opens today.

The collection looked stunning and featured two colours I have been feeling quite strongly for recently, Lilac and Lemon. As a colour forecaster, it's reassuring when your gut feelings are confirmed on the catwalk. There was also lots of cream, and black and white colour blocking.

A stunning collection inspired by Rita Hayworth and Aly Khan had a 20's meets the 40's influence, featuring, neat suits and dresses, dropped waists, wide leg palazzo pants, pleat details, heavy lace and pretty embroidery.

There were also lots of mid calf length skirts, which we are still getting our heads round. They look great on 20 and 30 year olds, but on us they are in danger of looking frumpy. We'll keep you posted if we find one we like.

You can watch the collection here, but be warned the location is amazing and could leave you feeling like you need a holiday – and lots of money!
