Last week I did something I’d never done before and actually didn’t think was possible – I searched for sale bargains in perfume.
It is generally believed that perfume brands -particularly top end ones- don’t ‘do’ sale, as there is no need to get rid of last season’s stock, because there isn’t really a ‘last season’. Reducing the price through sale is something many perfume houses think hurts a brand’s credibility so poor sellers and discontinued stock are quietly removed and sold off through bargain outlet centres. It’s where celebrity perfumes go after their (often very) short lives.
What does go on sale in department stores are those gift boxes you get parcelled up as an attractive Christmas present idea….and if Harrods was anything to go by (yes, I DID brave that store, it was insane and not for the feint hearted) there are some amazing bargains to be had. I was seriously tempted by the Miller Harris Noix de Tubereuse gift set at £30 -half price and perfect to buy and stash for upcoming birthdays- or this covetable three scented candle set, half price at £32.50. These are good future-present buys, if you were strong enough to stand the huge crowds in the perfumery hall, there were many more similar very good brands with big discounts. (Check out Miller Harris for more excellent deals, scented candle fans…)
And I was slightly surprised to find that there were really nice perfume brands -ones we’ve talked about on The Women’s Room- with up to 50% off….such as Annick Goutal’s Grand Amour (now £30, which is 50% off…there are other bargains here) and Diptyque’s Eau de Lierre (now £38, which is 50% off). There were also some L’Artisan de Parfumier scents, including L’Eau de L’Artisan at £32.50, (50mls bottle) and Coeur de Vetiver Sacre in 50 and 100mls from £27.50.
Luckily you don’t have to go to Harrods at all, the website has a few of the bargains listed, although not everything is here, a trip to the store -I know, I know, but sometimes needs must – might bag a few more gems.
And the Miller Harris website currently has loads of stuff with 50% off, too…
Oh good to know Sue, although I don’t need the distraction frankly…..A
