Conflict and Costume: The Herero Tribes of Namibia by Jim Naughten

conflict and costume

How much do we love this beautiful book? Glorious images by Jim Naughten that capture the costumes worn by the Herero tribe in Nambia. The women wear patchwork clothes brightly jumbled together and top the whole look off with cow-horn inspired head gear. The story of the costumes- influenced by a grim, Victorian era war between Germany and Namibia is explained in the text, but really all we want to do is get inspired by the clothes. Shallow, us?
