This, I can vouch from recent practice, is an excellent book on drink. Since I received this to review last week I have thumbed enthusiastically through the recipes, considered a cocktail with pureed aubergines and made the Nuked Negroni, a marvellous version of of my favourite classic.
The author, Ryan Chetiyawardana is an award winning bar tender and renowned cocktail inventor who approaches making cocktails a little like Jamie Oliver approaches food, with simple to follow recipes, great imagery (by Kim Lightbody), interesting drinks that fit well into our social lives and a real understanding of what we want from a modern cocktail or alcoholic (or not) drink.
His competence shines through each page and I’m not ashamed to say I’ve already got this book a bit grubby with use (the Nuked Negroni requires blackberries in the infusion, they’re messy, ok?) An great present for any cocktail enthusiast, including those with reasonably advanced skills (ahem). Excellent, published by Frances Lincoln.
