Tipped off by the lovely Disneyrollergirl, I popped into the wee Levi Vintage store on Newburgh Street this week to check out the brand’s new Made & Crafted range, and found the perfect white shirt. I love the little Levi vintage store, it is much nicer to shop in than the giant Regent Street store and the service is always friendly and informed. And it’s pretty, they have low-fi store displays that use old doors, pinboards and ply wood, right up my street.
If you are tired of denim ranges that are full of skinny jeans and yet more skinny jeans, topped off by body hugging T shirts that wouldn’t look out of place on one of Mr Berlusconi’s young friends, then you might want to check out the Made & Crafted range, which has a nice looking boyfriend jean, a fabulously practical but chic dress along the lines of yesterday’s denim tunic (only it’s a shirt dress, so not quite the same) and this great white shirt.
The shirt was an easy sell to me as all I had to do was touch it, the cotton is amazing quality, soft and fine and the inside finish is beautiful. it has sleeves that can be rolled up and buttoned or worn long and cuffed. The design is oversized, but the volume is nipped in around the hem with some clever shaping, which means it feels quite slimline on. It was £140, which is pricey but it’s a classic and as readers will know, I have a large pile of cash waiting to be spent from my eBay selling.
If you can’t get to the store, then Net-a-Porter carry some of the range, although sadly not my shirt, although there are a couple of nice ones in its edit.
