I have hardly ever been into a Hobbs shop, heaven knows why, they are nice enough. Last week I went into the Covent Garden store, which is a great place to shop, nicely laid out stock, attractive surroundings and good friendly staff. And the range is really interesting, grown up and mostly lightly structured, without being stuffy.
This excellent denim skirt caught my eye as it is less scruffy and absolutely not almost-what-I-wore-in-1976. Retro fashion is all very well but sometimes it sails a bit close to home (and memories). This one edges towards a neater, sharper aesthetic, I love the belt and the crisp inverted front pleat, yet the back is clean, so very flattering. And the length is spot on -just at the knee -for summer. It’s called the Adele skirt and is £69, although it must be nearly sale time…..I had a sale invite from Liberty today and a note from Jaeger to say its sale starts on the 6th June. Would look perfect with a white shirt.
