We are seriously indebted to TWR reader Sandra Halliday, Editor in Chief of trend forecasting website WGSN, who has told us about the Norma Kamali range of swimsuits at Net-A-Porter. Sandra is a very stylish Editor in Chief, she is hard to please and extremely knowledgeable about her brands due to her job, so if she says the Bill ruched swimsuit is good, then it is.
In fact she said “I’d almost given up hope of ever wearing swimwear again ( Sandra is over 40) but that suit is A-MAZ-ING. It pulls you in and pushes you out in all the right places and draws the eye away from the cellulite in a way that high cut swimsuits don’t seem to do. I will, of course, now be changing my name to Norma Desmond and only wearing it with a turban and cigarette holder. Please recommend it in your blog to any woman of a certain age who isn’t happy with simply looking invisible but wants to look better than all the lithe young twenty-somethings on the beach.
You have been told, by someone who knows.
I also love the big knicker bikinis, which I think are fabulously flattering. Before you all get out your credit cards I have to warn you these are expensive costumes. The Bill swimsuit is (deep breath) £340, BUT how often do you buy a swimsuit? Does it not make sense to invest in something that makes you feel like the queen of the beach? For those who might find this a laughable amount, then you might look to Toast, who also have very nice ‘Norma Desmond Lite’ version of these beauties.
Oh yes we do! and thanks for the excellent tips Steph..I feel a retro lingerie post coming on….Ax
