If you haven’t seen Top of the Lake yet – you are in for a treat.
Written and directed by Jane Campion and filmed in New Zealand, it stars Elizabeth Moss (Peggy from Mad Men), Holly Hunter and Peter Mullan (star of the harrowing, Tyrannosaur).
Without giving the plot away, it’s a gripping story, set in stunning surroundings, full of brutal men and damaged women.
The women of Paradise are completely fascinating and made me want to move to Scotland to dispense wisdom from a shipping container.
It’s not going to make you feel good, but it is going to have you on the edge of your seat as the plot twists and turns. It will also make you want to have long grey hair.
Make sure you have a few episodes of Modern Family lined up to watch afterwards.
Saw it, loved it. One of the few programmes on TV that presents an array of strong and complex women, but then, not a surprise when the director Jane Campion is one of the best female directors working now.
