A few long lasting summer jackets to consider

thewomensroomblog091It’s been a glorious summer so far for not really needing a jacket. Well, at least it has been in lily-livered London, where we are protected from more bracing weather-patterns, but I’m off to Wales this weekend where I know I’ll need something warm to wear around the camp-fire. So I fancy a light jacket that says it’s still summer, but will keep me warm. This season it seems to be the job of the bomber jacket to fill this gap.

While out and about last week I was taken with the stylishly relaxed bomber in powdery-beige from & Other Stories, above. But at £79.00 is it too much for a over-in-a-dash summer cover up? I guess it’s glamourous satiny fabric might garner it some extra time by moving it to evening jacket status later in the year.

I love the easy-breezy styling on bombers, although I prefer them open and worn over longer, full dresses or spacious Ts rather than zipped up and wedged at the waist, it feels more modern and less like you’re off to play baseball. I am very tempted by this pearly-shell white quilted down version by trusty Uniqlo, mostly because it appears to be in the sale at £29.00 reduced from £60.00. You could wear it under winter jackets for an interesting layered-look when it gets chillier too. And you can wash it. How ever did we survive without Ultra Lite Down?

uniqlo-the-womensroomblog-01Also at Uniqlo is this off-white jersey bomber in white, which again I’d never wear zipped up, but it would work well over sun dresses and over-sized linen shirts and jeans, it’s what your basic white T shirt would be if it were a jacket -with added quilting. It’s a reasonable £24.90. I think that might be it for summer buying for me now, you?
