Savage Salads is a neat title and the team behind the book are already food-truck stars, seen daily at Berwick Street in Soho. The book is less vegetable-drama and more a list of interesting combinations you can play with and still call ‘salad’, with an emphasis on providing filling meals. I was a little underwhelmed at first, but I tried the Roast Cauliflower and Butter Beans recipe and it was delicious, and Root Vegetables and Taleggio went down well. There is a Five Minute Salad suggestion before each section of seasonal recipes, which could be useful on days when you return from home, brain dead and just want a list of things you could throw together and will taste good.
I suspect this might be a good starter-cook book for boys, mine looked impressed.
