Call the Midwife by Jennifer Worth

Call the Midwife is shaping up to be one of those memorable tv programmes that makes you feel good and weep at the same time. A wonderful insight into the lives of women in the East End in the 50’s, it is based on Jennifer Worth’s true account of her life as a midwife in Poplar. Sadly Jennifer died aged 75, shortly before filming began.

On BBC1 on Sunday nights at 8pm, if you’ve missed it, you can still watch it on catch up. The addition of Miranda Hart as Chummy Browne is just perfect.
