Gary Graham, New York designer (one for you Kate Bush, if you’re reading)

I’m in New York this week so just a quick post today, showing you inside the fabulous Gary Graham Tribeca store. You’ve got to love a designer that gives you animal headed mannequins set in a festive pine forest.

My friend Whitney pointed out Gary’s ABC Carpets & Home shop in shop last year, mentioning that he was a talented print designer who was worth a look. The store space was lightly gothic with a few taxidermy touches, so naturally I was hooked and I bought a lovely printed blouse that I have worn constantly.

Cut to this year and whilst walking to Shinola I came across Gary’s Tribeca store, which was just as fabulously dark and lux-fairy-tale like inside. As middleagedad wryly said, while he sat as I tried the entire shop on, ‘We’re in Kate Bush’s head again with this store’. Indeed Kate may well like the rich prints and gorgeous fabrics Gary uses, while also loving the layered way you can wear his designs.

graham_01 The clothes are not everybody’s taste for sure, but underneath the slightly fantastical styling are beautiful, wearable pieces that are well worth investigating if you’re ever in the area. The Anagram range is the diffusion (cheaper) range and this week there have been great sale deals due to the black Friday/ sofa Sunday/ cyber Monday thing going on (I’m slightly exhausted keeping up with the daily deals, isn’t it all just ‘sale?’). I bought this at an irrisistable discount.
